Dr. C. Chase Cao, Ph.D. is an internationally recognized expert in material and structure design, self-powered flexible/stretchable electronic systems, robotics, and 3D/4D printing. He specializes in the design, fabrication, and integration of cutting-edge sensors, power sources, and robotic systems for applications in personalized healthcare, smart agriculture, smart packaging, and aerospace.

Dr. Cao is currently an Assistant Professor in the departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. He is also an Investigator at the Advanced Platform Technology Center at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. As a highly cited researcher, he serves as an associate editor for several distinguished journals and has received numerous awards, including US Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship, CWRU Faculty Innovator Award, iCANX Young Scientist Award.

Dr. Cao has been awarded grants from the NSF, USDA, DOE, DOT, MEDC, and private industry. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Australian National University and completed postdoctoral training in soft materials and soft electronics at Duke University.
