Tejas Bhatt

Tejas Bhatt is the founder and CEO of AdvanTejas, a Digital Food Safety Consultancy. Mr. Bhatt brings an interdisciplinary and global expertise and experience to transforming and building the next generation of a smarter food safety system. Mr. Bhatt brings practical applications of emerging technologies to prevent foodborne outbreaks and illnesses in the global food supply chain. He has experience working with academia, government, and industry on wide ranging issues from supply chain resiliency, food safety, and food defense to responsible sourcing, trade, and sanctions compliance. Prior to founding AdvanTejas, Mr. Bhatt served as the Senior Director of Global Technology and Innovation for Walmart’s Supply Chain Compliance Services group. During his time with Walmart, Mr. Bhatt led enterprise-wide initiatives from traceability and transparency using blockchain to using machine learning and artificial intelligence for more predictive and preventive food safety. As the Vice President of Science and Policy Initiatives at the Institute of Food Technologists, Mr. Bhatt also worked with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on many of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations and guidance documents including the FSMA 204 traceability pilots. Mr. Bhatt is also a trained and experience computer scientist having worked in software development for supply chain management prior to entering the world of food safety.

Mr. Bhatt has degrees in Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Master of Interdisciplinary Food Science, both from Purdue University. He is currently working on his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Systems Engineering from The George Washington University.
